Higher-Level Prophecy
This level involves being an instrument to speak to kings, nations, languages, and peoples. It’s a profound form of prophecy, carrying messages of great significance. For instance, the book of Revelation states, “Then they said to me, ‘You must prophesy again about many peoples and nations and languages and kings'” (Rev. 10:8-11).
Common Prophecy
This type of prophecy is more widespread and can be seen in many believers. As stated in 1 Corinthians 14:24-25, “But if all prophesy, an unbeliever or outsider who enters is reproved by all and called to account by all… that person will bow down before God and worship him, declaring, ‘God is really among you.'”
Various Types of Prophetic Giftings
Personal Prophecy
Personal prophecy consists of inspired words from God directed at an individual. These prophetic words are tailored to a specific person, often offering guidance or insight. Many examples can be found in the Bible, such as when Jesus told Nathanael, “…you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man” (John 1:51b).
General Prophecy
General prophecy is intended for a broader audience, such as a community or congregation. It’s a message from God meant to address multiple people at once. For example, Jesus told His disciples, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me” (Matthew 26:21b).
Directional Prophecy
Directional prophecies provide specific guidance from the Holy Spirit, offering a sense of direction. An example can be found in 1 Samuel 10:2-5, where specific instructions were given regarding a journey.
Prophecy for Authority Figures
High-level prophecy involves messages from the Holy Spirit directed at those in positions of power or authority. These prophecies can influence nations, languages, and kings. It’s important to note that one should not promote themselves to this level; instead, such promotion comes from God.
Other Prophetic Gifts
Prophetic Exhortation
This gift allows the Holy Spirit to encourage others through inspired words. Even in difficult times, a person with this gift can uplift those around them, just as Judas and Silas did in Acts 15:32.
Prophetic Praying
With this gift, a person can pray according to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, aligning their prayers with God’s will. Romans 8:26 emphasizes this, stating, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness…”
Prophetic Intercession
Prophetic intercession involves hearing God’s will for others and praying it back to Him. This form of prayer is powerful, especially when one is certain of God’s intentions.
Prophetic Singing
Prophetic singing is a remarkable gift that allows individuals to sing new songs, inspired directly by the Holy Spirit. Such songs can transform the atmosphere and have a profound impact on those who hear them.
Prophetic Dance
Dancing unto the Lord has long been part of biblical tradition. Recently, the importance of prophetic dance has been revealed by the Holy Spirit. This form of worship involves more than just movement; it’s an expression of devotion that God recognizes and values.
Artistic Prophetic Gifts
Art also holds significant importance in conveying God’s messages. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, artistic expressions such as paintings or sculptures can communicate divine truths, much like the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament.
