The Fruit of Patience – I

The Power of Patience in Fulfilling God’s Promises

Patience is a spiritual fruit that plays a vital role in our walk with God. It is essential if we are to see the Word of the Lord come to pass in our lives. Often, this means enduring long seasons of waiting.

“And we want each one of you to show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope to the very end, so that you may not become sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
Hebrews 6:11-12

Impatience Delays God’s Plan

You can only inherit God’s promises by waiting in patience. Impatience leads to poor choices, missteps, and delays in God’s divine timing.

  • Impatience leads us in the wrong direction.
  • It causes us to murmur against God.
  • It gives birth to things outside of God’s will.
  • It makes us feel spiritually lost.

Just as Sarah’s impatience gave birth to Ishmael, the Israelites’ impatience caused them to wander in the wilderness for forty years. These examples remind us that impatience has real consequences.

Waiting on God’s Timing

The Holy Spirit often speaks to us regarding both short-term and long-term plans. But none of these purposes can be fulfilled through our own wisdom or influence. We must wait for God’s perfect time.

“Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”
Psalm 27:14

We may cry or complain, but we cannot push God to move on our terms. His timing is always perfect.

A Grateful Heart Guards Against Impatience

Gratitude is a shield against impatience. When we thank God in all circumstances, we position our hearts to endure and trust. God is never late—His promises come to pass in their appointed time.

“For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.”
2 Corinthians 4:17

A Personal Testimony of Waiting

Let me share a personal story from the year 1992 in Odisha. While typing for a customer, I suddenly felt the presence of the Lord. I closed my eyes, and everything became silent. The Holy Spirit spoke:

“There will be a retreat centre in Cuttack, where the youths will receive a new life in the Holy Spirit. It will come to pass after your marriage.”

Later, in my room, the same word was confirmed again by the Holy Spirit. Years passed, but I held onto the promise.

Fulfillment of the Prophecy

Many years later, a missionary group called Fiat Mission, working in various Indian states, received the same revelation. They came to Cuttack, prayed earnestly, and eventually bought land for the upcoming retreat center.

This is the fruit of waiting on God’s Word. His promises never fail—they come true in His perfect timing.

Final Thoughts

The fruit of patience strengthens our faith and builds our spiritual character. God honors those who wait on Him. If you’re in a season of waiting, stay rooted in gratitude, hold on to His promises, and trust that what He has spoken will surely come to pass.
