Steps to Hear the Voice of God – III

Praise and Worship: Gateway to God’s Presence

Praise and worship will catapult you into the presence of God more instantly than any other form of prayer. God inhabits the praises of His people.

“But you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.” (Psalm 22:3)

Praise and worship are expressions of our love for God in action. They create an atmosphere where God can speak to us. We were created to worship Him. As you engage in daily praise and worship, your relationship with God deepens.

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.” (Psalm 100:4)

“The true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him.” (John 4:23)

In Heaven, praise surrounds the throne of God, and even there, His voice resounds.

“And from the throne came a voice saying, ‘Praise our God, all you his servants, and all who fear him, small and great!'” (Revelation 19:5)

Praying in Tongues: The Spirit’s Prayer Language

Praying in tongues is a divine gift that tunes us into the voice of God. It activates other charisms and strengthens our spiritual sensitivity.

“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.” (Acts 2:4)

“For those who speak in a tongue do not speak to other people but to God… they are speaking mysteries in the Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 14:2)

“Those who speak in a tongue build themselves up…” (1 Corinthians 14:4a)

This form of prayer works from within, building your spirit and enhancing your ability to discern spiritual truths.

“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays…” (1 Corinthians 14:14)

Begin with just 10 to 20 minutes a day and gradually increase. Even a few words, when spoken in faith, can grow into a powerful, intimate prayer language.

The Power of the Holy Rosary

Praying the Holy Rosary daily also nurtures spiritual growth and helps in discerning God’s voice. The Rosary weaves Scripture into a prayerful rhythm that anchors our thoughts in God.

“Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword…” (Hebrews 4:12)

Through the Rosary, we join Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and the communion of saints in lifting our hearts to God.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses…” (Hebrews 12:1a)

Temporary bondages and spiritual confusion can often cloud our connection with God. Regularly praying the Rosary helps maintain freedom in the Spirit and clarity in hearing God’s guidance.

Conclusion

God speaks in various ways, but the most consistent path to hearing His voice involves intentional spiritual practices. Praise and worship usher in His presence. Praying in tongues builds our inner man. The Rosary anchors us in Scripture and spiritual community. Through these, we align ourselves to hear and respond to the voice of God.
