Praying in Tongues Will Build Our Faith

Praying in tongues is a powerful gift that not only deepens our relationship with God but also strengthens our faith. The Holy Bible affirms that when we pray in the Spirit, our trust in God and His promises is renewed and built up.

Jude 20 clearly tells us:

“But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit.”

Praying in tongues edifies us spiritually. Our faith — which is more precious than gold — grows stronger as we connect with God in our heavenly language. This faith enriches our lives, making us “rich in faith” and rooted in the truth of God’s Word.

As Colossians 2:6-7 encourages:

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”

The early apostles demonstrated that praying in tongues leads to a life of supernatural faith. Their daily walk with God was filled with boldness, miracles, and unwavering trust — and it all grew as they prayed in the Spirit.

The Bible urges us to grow from faith to faith. This growth happens when we continually water our faith with God’s Word and pray in our spiritual language.

Living by Faith in Christ

Praying in tongues strengthens our inner man. We become more confident in God’s plan, and we can boldly declare:

“The life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God.” (Galatians 2:20)

Even a tiny seed of faith can grow into something extraordinary when nurtured by the Word and Spirit-led prayer.

The Science Behind Praying in Tongues

Interestingly, modern research also confirms the benefits of praying in the Spirit. Dr. Carl Peterson, M.D., a brain specialist at ORU in Tulsa, Oklahoma, conducted a study on the connection between the brain and praying in tongues.

His research revealed that when we pray in the Spirit:

  • Two chemical secretions are released in the brain.
  • These chemicals go directly into the immune system.
  • The immune system gets a 35% to 40% boost, promoting healing in the body.

What’s even more amazing? This part of the brain is only activated during Spirit-led prayer and has no other known function in humans.

Faith, Healing, and Joy

Praying in tongues not only strengthens our faith but also promotes physical well-being. It’s God’s way of blessing us spiritually and physically — helping us walk in strength, health, and unwavering trust in Him.

Let us make praying in the Spirit a daily practice. As we do, our faith will rise, our hearts will overflow with joy, and our lives will reflect God’s power and love.
