Praying in Tongues Will Activate the Gifts Within Us
One of the most beautiful treasures of the Christian journey is the discovery of spiritual gifts. These gifts, often called charisms, are like seeds planted by the Holy Spirit deep within us. But how do we allow these seeds to grow and flourish? The key is praying in tongues.
Many believers across the world have testified that when they began to pray in tongues regularly, hidden gifts within them began to awaken. Just as sunlight and water activate the life of a seed, praying in tongues awakens the spiritual gifts within us.
The Apostles and the Power of Tongues
The early Church experienced this in a powerful way:
“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.” (Acts 2:4)
That moment unlocked a flood of charisms. The apostles healed the sick, cast out demons, and brought thousands of people to faith. What began with tongues led to a river of God’s power flowing through them.
The Living Water Within Us
Think of the anointing of the Holy Spirit as an underground stream. To bring that water to the surface, we dig a well or drill a borewell. In the same way, praying in tongues draws out the river of living water that Jesus promised would flow from within us.
When we pray in tongues with faith and consistency, we are allowing that hidden river to rise and refresh us. Gifts of healing, prophecy, discernment, and boldness begin to flow naturally.
The Overflow of God’s Presence
Look at the life of Peter. After Pentecost, his shadow carried healing. The sick were brought from towns all around Jerusalem, and they were all cured (Acts 5:16). What changed Peter? The fullness of the Spirit working through him—activated when he surrendered himself completely in prayer.
Praying in tongues is not just a practice; it’s an entrance into the supernatural life of the Holy Spirit. It brings joy, peace, and an overflow of God’s presence.
