The Holy Bible reveals many kinds of symbols of the Divine Spirit. By examining these manifestations, we learn more about the Divine Spirit, His character, and His traits.
The Wine
is also considered to be a symbol of the Holy Spirit. The disciples in Acts of the Apostles were accused of drunkenness because they were acting drunk. As wine makes the person who drinks it a different person, the Holy Spirit makes us different.
Key Scripture: “All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, ‘What does this mean?’ But others sneered and said, ‘They are filled with new wine.'” (Acts 2:12).
They were not actually drunk but filled with the without measure.
Preparation by Jesus: Our Lord Jesus Christ was preparing His disciples for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and explained: “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.'” (Luke 5:37-39).
As wine has the power to influence our emotions, the Holy Spirit also influences our emotions. The Holy Scriptures tell us: “For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17).
Getting addicted to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit is more important than drinking the wine of this world. Wine may give peace, joy, and boldness, but these are temporary and a false peace, joy, and boldness with lots of side effects.
Key Scripture: “Do not get drunk with wine for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Holy Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves.” (Ephesians 5:18).
The supernatural wine of the Holy Spirit is truly inebriating. Once you get addicted to Him, you will never want to give up. Be filled with the Holy Spirit every day, and you will be a different person.
The is also known as the hand of God and the finger of God. Jesus said: “But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come to you.” (Luke 11:20).
Key Scripture: “But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come to you.” (Matthew 12:28).
By this, we can know that the Spirit of God is also known as the finger of God. In the Book of Exodus, we find “the finger of God” in action: “When God finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.” (Exodus 31:18).
The Commandments were written on the tablets of stone by the Spirit of the Living God, the finger of God.
The Holy Spirit, as the finger of God, is a powerful manifestation that blasts out demonic bondage in our lives. This anointing uproots multiple problems out of our bodies. That is why when Jesus spoke about casting out demons, He spoke about the finger of God.
As we learn to walk in the communion of the Holy Spirit to a greater degree, we will find the Spirit of God manifesting this particular anointing through us.
The Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is also known as “the hand of God.” In the Acts of the Apostles, it is mentioned: “The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number became believers and turned to the Lord.” (Acts 11:21).
We know that the Holy Spirit was with them in power, and because the hand of God was with them, many were drawn to Jesus. The hand of God is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit to accomplish the given task.
One person who tangibly knew the hand of God was the Prophet Ezekiel. The hand of God was also on the men and women of God, but Ezekiel experienced Him very tangibly.
Key Scripture: “The Spirit lifted me up and bore me away, I went in bitterness in the heat of my spirit, the hand of the Lord being strong upon me.” (Ezekiel 3:14).
Here we see the hand of the Lord upon the prophet was very strong.
Vision and Guidance: “… As I sat in my house, with the elders of Judah sitting before me, the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me there. I looked and there was a figure that looked like a human being.” (Ezekiel 8:2-3).
The hand of Lord God came upon Ezekiel, and his eyes were opened to see: “It stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head, and the spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and brought me in visions of God…” (Ezekiel 8:3).
Here we see the hand of God lifting up the Prophet and taking him between earth and heaven. This was the experience of this prophet in his life. Again, he shares his experience: “The hand of the Lord came upon me, and he brought me out by the spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.” (Ezekiel 37:1).
The hand of the Lord, the Holy Spirit, instructs us, comforts us, enables us, and gives us directions. As we follow His leading in our lives and remain humble, the hand of the Lord shall be upon us, and we shall do great exploits for the Glory of God.
