Why We Need Confirmation
We are called to seek the Lord for confirmation of what He has spoken to us. It’s vital to verify and understand God’s message clearly. God is responsible only for what He has truly spoken — not for what we assume or misinterpret.
God is pleased when we sincerely ask, “Lord, one more confirmation.” As Scripture says:
“In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” (2 Corinthians 13:1)
This shows the importance of seeking clarity and assurance in our walk with God.
When Should We Seek Confirmation?
We must especially seek confirmation in significant decisions like:
- Changing jobs or location
- Buying or selling property
- Choosing higher education
- Marriage decisions
- Ministry direction
This isn’t a sign of doubt — it’s a desire to walk rightly in the will of God.
Types of Confirmation
1. Source of the Revelation
Is the message truly from God? Or is it from our emotions, the world, or even deception? We need spiritual discernment.
2. Understanding the Revelation
Sometimes, we misunderstand God’s message. It’s okay to ask:
“Lord, what exactly do You mean?”
3. Timing of the Revelation
Even if the word is from God, timing matters. Ask:
“Lord, is now the time to act?”
Waiting for the right moment is part of walking in obedience.
“In your law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is valid.” (John 8:17)
What Confirmation Brings
- Faith – Strengthens your trust in God.
- Assurance – Gives you peace in your spirit.
- Boldness – Enables you to move forward confidently.
God will confirm:
- His calling on your life
- The area of your work
- The promises He has given you
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
A Biblical Example: Paul’s Confirmation
In Acts 9, Saul (later Paul) had a divine encounter with Jesus:
“Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” … “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting…” (Acts 9:3–5)
Afterward, Jesus appeared in a vision to Ananias, instructing him to go to Saul. Ananias laid hands on him, and Saul was filled with the Holy Spirit.
That visit from Ananias was a divine confirmation. It strengthened Paul, showing him that he was truly on the right path. This moment marked the beginning of his powerful ministry.
Final Thoughts
Confirmation is a gift from God. He delights in reassuring us. Whether it’s through His Word, a dream, a person, or a direct whisper to your spirit — God confirms because He cares.
So if you’re unsure today, simply pray:
“Lord, confirm what You have spoken to me.”
And trust that He will — in His perfect way and time.
