Our Spiritual Senses
Just as our body has natural senses, our spirit also has its own senses—seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, tasting, and even touch. When we pray in tongues consistently, these spiritual senses are activated, allowing us to experience the unseen realm.
A Biblical Example
The book of Revelation gives us a glimpse into this reality:
“Then I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands I saw one like the Son of Man” (Revelation 1:12).
Praying in tongues opens us to such spiritual experiences, making us more sensitive to God’s voice and presence.
Becoming More Sensitive to the Spirit
As we continue in prayer, our spiritual eyes open wider. We begin to hear more clearly, see more vividly, and sense more deeply what the Holy Spirit is revealing.
A friend of mine shared that when he began praying in tongues, at first he could barely hear God’s voice. But with consistency, he began to hear the Spirit’s leading more vividly and clearly.
Visions and Encounters
Another believer testified that while praying in tongues, she began to see visions—first green trees, fruits, and birds. Later, she was shown “the sea of glass, like crystal,” before the throne of God.
My wife also had a powerful encounter. After praying long in tongues, she dreamed of a majestic Lion with golden light and brown fur. It was the Lion of Judah—our Lord Jesus Christ—appearing in glory.

Unlocking Spiritual Gifts
From my own experience, I’ve learned that extended times of praying in tongues often open the gift of the Word of Knowledge. The Holy Spirit reveals people’s conditions and needs with clarity, simply because my spirit has become more sensitive to Him.
The Gateway to the Supernatural
Praying in tongues is truly a key to the supernatural world of the Holy Spirit. It sharpens our sensitivity, deepens our intimacy with God, and opens our spiritual eyes to see the wonders of His Kingdom.
