There are moments in life when we simply don’t know how to pray. We don’t always understand God’s will in every situation, and words often fall short. In these moments, praying in the Spirit helps us align with God’s perfect will.
The Spirit Intercedes for Us
The Bible says:
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:26-27)
When we pray in tongues, it is the Spirit Himself who prays through us, ensuring that God’s will is established in our lives.
A Testimony of God’s Protection

Sister Linda shared a powerful testimony:
“One day I felt an urgency to pray for my father. I didn’t know what it was about, but I immediately stopped what I was doing and prayed for 45 minutes in tongues. Later, I learned that at that very time, he was in a terrible accident. A young man found him, cared for him, and kept him from going into shock. That prayer in tongues was truly life-saving.”
This shows how praying in the Spirit allows us to intercede even when we don’t know the details.
Speaking Mysteries with God
Paul reminds us:
“For those who speak in a tongue do not speak to other people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they are speaking mysteries in the Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 14:2)
When we pray in tongues, we are communicating directly with God. The word mysteries (musterion in Greek) refers to divine secrets—truths hidden from the world but revealed to the righteous.
The Holy Spirit: Master of Prayer
The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains:
“The Holy Spirit, whose anointing permeates our whole being, is the interior Master of Christian prayer. He is the artisan of the living tradition of prayer. To be sure, there are many paths of prayer as there are persons who pray, but it is the communion of the Holy Spirit that Christian prayer is prayer in the Church.” (CCC 2672)
The Spirit Himself guides us in prayer, shaping our hearts and words into true communion with God.
A Powerful Tool of Prayer
Whenever you don’t know how to pray, simply surrender the situation to God and pray in tongues. Your spirit is speaking directly to the Lord, unlocking His wisdom, comfort, and intervention.
Praying in tongues is not just another prayer method—it is a divine tool that connects us to the heart of God.
