The Holy Spirit: Your Ever-Faithful Helper

If there’s anyone you can truly trust, it’s the Holy Spirit. God is always on your side, and His Spirit is constantly with you as a helper. Whether you’re rich or poor, sick or healthy, educated or not, the Holy Spirit is there with you. In our Know the Holy Spirit retreat, I always remind everyone of this truth: the Holy Spirit is our Helper in all things. Jesus promised, “The Father… will give you another Helper, to be with you forever” (John 14:16).

You don’t need to rely on the rich, powerful, or influential. The Holy Spirit’s help is enough. When you’re in fellowship with Him, He brings the right people into your life. Over the years, I’ve seen the Spirit work this way, time and again.

Let me share a recent experience that shows how the Holy Spirit even attends to small details. In September 2018, my wife attended a retreat at the Good Today Centre in Kottayam. Due to a nationwide strike, the retreat ended earlier, and everyone had to leave. She planned to visit her parents along the way, but because of the strike, the buses were crowded. A stranger offered her a seat and took her airbag for safekeeping.

She later realized that her handbag, which had her phone, was inside that airbag. When she reached her parents’ home, she noticed her phone was missing and suspected the man in the bus.

A Miraculous Turn of Events

Hoping for a miracle, I went to the bus stand with my house-owner, who joined me on his two-wheeler. We arrived just as the same bus pulled in. With permission, we searched it, but the man had already left. After asking around, a young boy pointed out that he’d seen the man running away. With renewed hope, we followed the direction he gave us.

After almost giving up, we saw the man walking toward us! I approached him and calmly asked for the mobile. Much to my relief, he handed it over.

Reflecting on the Spirit’s Intervention

Looking back, I was amazed at how perfectly everything aligned. The Holy Spirit’s guidance brought the bus, the boy, and even the timing together. This experience reminded me of how deeply the Holy Spirit cares, even about small matters.

Trust in the Power of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit’s power is unique; it guides, strengthens, and cares for you. Many forces exist in this universe, but none compare to the Holy Spirit’s love. Trust in Him to guide you, and let Him be your source of peace. He is with you, now and always.

As Jesus said, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you” (John 16:13). And as Exodus 14:14 reminds us, “The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to keep still.”
