Charisms are not mere toys or tools for personal gain. They are powerful arsenals given to us to build up the Kingdom of God. The power of the Holy Spirit is not meant for fame or wealth, but to spread the love-filled Gospel of Jesus Christ, expand God’s Kingdom, and save souls.
God’s Kingdom is Everlasting
The Bible teaches us that God’s Kingdom is eternal and will never be destroyed. As stated in Daniel 2:44, “In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed.” This eternal Kingdom will triumph over all others and stand forever.
Matthew 24:14 adds, “And this good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the world, as a testimony to all the nations; and then the end will come.”
The Charisms: Empowering Us to Serve Others
The Holy Spirit empowers us to bring freedom to the oppressed, comfort those suffering, and share Christ’s love, mercy, and salvation with everyone. These Charisms are not for show, but for a showdown against the powers of darkness.
Acts 10:38 reminds us of how Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power to do good and heal those oppressed by the devil.
God wants us to be aware of the Charisms. If we don’t understand them, we may miss the ways they manifest in our own lives and the lives of others. “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good” (1 Corinthians 12:7).
You don’t need to be a preacher to receive these Charisms. Ordinary people from all walks of life—housewives, carpenters, doctors—can experience the Holy Spirit’s power through these gifts.
Recognizing Charisms in Others
Not understanding the Charisms in others can lead to judgment. Romans 14:10 warns, “Why do you pass judgment on your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.” Ignorance of Charisms can damage the body of Christ, as it prevents us from recognizing the gifts in others.
When we respect and recognize others’ Charisms, we can receive blessings and anointings through them.
Stewardship of the Charisms
We are not the owners of these gifts but humble stewards of God’s power. As 1 Corinthians 12:11 says, “All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.”
The Charisms are not in our control. We cannot create miracles or healings at will. However, by living in Christ and cultivating faith and holiness, we create an environment where God can work through us.
Charisms: Not for Our Glory
When the Charisms manifest in our lives, we must stay humble and remember that the glory belongs to God. Isaiah 42:8 declares, “I am the LORD, that is my name; my glory I give to no other.” People may praise you, but always give glory to God.
Combining Charisms for Greater Power
Certain Charisms work powerfully in combination. For instance, the Gift of Prophecy can include the Word of Knowledge, the Word of Wisdom, and other gifts like Healing and Faith.
An example from John 5:3-9 shows the combination of the Word of Knowledge and Healing when Jesus heals a man who had been ill for 38 years.
As God works through us, it’s essential to stay humble. When opportunities arise, let them come naturally, without seeking attention or recognition. Focus on purifying your heart, saving souls, and bringing glory to God.
Intercessory prayer is a crucial gift that doesn’t require recognition but is vital to the work of the Church. Whether or not others acknowledge your efforts, stay focused on these three things:
- Your own spiritual growth.
- The salvation of souls.
- The greater glory of God.
