Healing is a touch of heaven that we need every day of our life. It can be inner healing, physical healing, spiritual healing, or generational healing. Healing brings freedom to our spirit, soul (mind, emotions, and will), and body. This gift helps us receive a healing touch from the Living God.
“… to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,” (1Cor.12:9)
The Spirit manifests the gift of healing. Healings occur because of this gift. It involves the supernatural healing of diseases and infirmities without natural means.
“Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the leading man of the island, named Publius, who received us and entertained us hospitably for three days. It so happened that the father of Publius lay sick in bed with fever and dysentery. Paul visited him and cured him by praying and putting his hands on him. After this happened, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases also came and were cured. They bestowed many honors on us, and when we were about to sail, they put on board all the provisions we needed,” (Acts 28:7-10).
The Bible refers to this gift as ‘gifts’ of healing. There are many types of healing gifts. Also, there are various methods by which the healing anointing is administered.
We need healing in many areas of our lives and family. Each area is important to us and to God. That is why Jesus bled, died, and rose again.
“Surely he has borne our infirmities and carried our diseases: But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities, upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises, we are healed,” (Isaiah 53:4-5).
When Christ died on the cross, he was stricken for our transgressions, mutilated for our iniquities, and upon him was laid the punishment that makes us complete.
The Redemption
“And when you were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, when he forgave us all our trespasses, erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it,” (Colossians 2:13-15).
The cross took care of all that stands against us. Now, we can live ‘a life in abundance’ in the Spirit and know the joy of salvation.
“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’ – in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith,” (Galatians 3:13-14).
Our Lord Jesus Christ redeems us from the curse of the law in our life. He sets us free from the words spoken against us. He sets us free from all that stands against us. That is why so much healing takes place when millions call upon the name of Jesus.
Types of Healing
Many kinds of healings take place. They include:
Inner Healing
Inner healing heals our inner wounds. Life’s scars affect our soul, mind, emotions, and will. Our spirit also has inner wounds. This anointing heals inner wounds and restores us. Our pain-filled memories heal. Our life heals so that we can love our neighbor again. Our spirit heals to love our God.
Physical Healing
Physical healing restores our bodies. Sicknesses and accidents limit and burden our body/life. Sicknesses can cause premature death. Physical healing sets our body free to serve man and God.
“When Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever; he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she got up; and began to serve him,” (Mt. 8:14-15).
Spiritual Healing
Spiritual healing manifests the Holy Spirit. Deliverance takes place from sicknesses caused by demonic spirits.
“After they had gone away, a demoniac who was mute was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the one who had been mute spoke…,” (Matthew 9:32-33).
Demonic activity causes sickness and hinders our duties and growth in the Lord Jesus Christ. Evil spirits can bind us.
“Then they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. As he stepped out on land, a man of the city who had demons met him. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he did not live in a house but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he fell down before him and shouted at the top of his voice, ‘What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me’ for Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many times it had seized him; he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the wilds) … Then the demons came out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned,” (Luke 8:26-33).
Spiritual healing can also heal bad habits. Some habits prevent us from growing in the freedom of God’s glory. These habits stick to us like scales to a fish. Healing frees us and can even add positive habits to our life.
Inter-generational Healing
Inter-generational healing addresses the wounds caused by past generations’ indifferent lifestyles. The Messianic anointing, as prophesized by the Prophet Isaiah, heals these wounds.
“The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me; he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to provide for those who mourn in Zion- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, to display his glory. They shall build up the ancient ruins, they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations,” (Isaiah 61:1-4).
This process is called ‘the healing of the family tree’.
